Parks Highway Susitna River Bridge Repair

This five-span bridge crosses the Susitna River and has a total length of 1,070 LF. This project consists of removing existing lead based paint, repainting, structural steel retrofitting, rehabilitating the concrete deck and installing a bridge deck overlay. Retrofit work consists of replacing the existing rocker bearings with pot bearings, structural steel modifications, replacing the existing bridge rail and constructing a polyester overlay. In order to meet the contract scheduled milestones and create a safe work zone, a temporary hanging deck system was installed for access.
