This project included constructing one steel structure and six concrete structures.
The steel structure was a 310’ long two-span plate girder bridge over SR16. Erecting the steel girders had to be done in phases to coincide with traffic staging. Mowat set all of the girder sections, which averaged 56,000 lbs. each, with a single 100-ton crawler crane using 35-ton beam clamps and nylon slings. Temporary falsework was required for stability until the final bolt-up was completed.
The concrete structures included:
- two three-span box girder bridges, 211’ and 265’ in length
- a 135’ long single span precast girder bridge
- a 78’ long cut-and-cover pedestrian tunnel
- widening of two 500’ long four-span precast girder bridges on both sides.
