Awards: International Concrete Repair – 2007 Project of the Year
Rainbow Bridge is the largest single-span concrete arch structure in Idaho. Built in 1933, it exemplifies a conscious effort to meld a modern structure with a picturesque natural setting. This project involved retrofitting the concrete arch, replacing decorative concrete rail, replacing columns and stringer ends, repairing delamination, and performing corrosion mitigation. The mitigation process involved electrochemical chloride extraction and re-alkalization of the corroding and chloride contaminated concrete. This required an extensive access and containment platform. An overhang bridge inspection truck with 33 feet of under bridge reach was utilized for access to critical areas.
