This beloved Seattle park was constructed as a five-acre hanging garden on a lid over Interstate 5. The park includes sculpted concrete canyon rims, five fountains, each with a seating area surrounded by native plants and a labyrinth of corridors, stairwells and footpaths. The cast-in-place fountains mask the traffic noise from the freeway below, while trees and flowering shrubs screen the surrounding office buildings. All details of the park were custom-designed, providing an urban oasis.
