Cost: $9,200,000 (Total Contract Value)

Portland, Oregon utilizes public transportation more than any other U.S. city its size. Exclusive bus lanes span 36 blocks on 5th and 6th Avenues through downtown Portland. This project encompassed those avenues from N.W. Irving Street to W. Burnside Street. Work included reconstructing the roadbed and drainage systems, installing new concrete and brick sidewalks, reconstructing basement vaults, building concrete retaining walls, and installing trees, benches, light fixtures, planter pots, trash receptacles, bus shelters, tree grates, root barriers, bicycle racks, and fences. Working in the heart of downtown Portland proved challenging. Old buildings adjacent to the project required foundation reinforcement, and old, forgotten pipes were often unmarked. The inner-city location meant limited staging areas. In spite of the challenges, the project was completed on time.
